SASSY PANTS

NO, I’m not talking about my kids, or even Christian. I’m speaking of myself and a situation that happened a few months back. And incase any of you remember me as a child/teenager… I had quite a mouth and back sassed people on the regular.

Ok, so I went to Kalea’s school on Friday where I attended an awards assembly for the Kindergarteners. I arrived, took my seat in the benches, and saw an older lady that I recognized from a previous encounter. FLASHBACK TIME: Back when I was still working at White Dahlia, Christian would have to do these late audits with the FDA so I would drop the kids off at Alice and Cletus’ house. This particular day Mia fell asleep in the car and Landen was wide awake. So naturally I put Mia in the stroller (my single crappy stroller) and held Landen while I managed to somehow push them into the building and into the office. Well, I was there at 3:30pm to pick Kalea up early… but guess what… they don’t let you check your children out any later then 3:15. So they gave me a car pass (cause naturally I had forgotten it.) By this time Mia had just woken up grumpy, and we had to haul ourselves back to the car and get in the carpool lane. Well any of you who do carpool, you know that you have to arrive like 30 minutes early or you’ll be in line FOREVER. So being a little irritated that I couldn’t check out my own child at the office, I get back in my car.. . now running late to drop off the kids and get to work on time. So what does any reasonably sane/impatient person do? She cuts in line and picks up my kid with 5 minutes instead of 30 minutes later. Well, except for the fact that somehow they lost my kid and when they finally found her, I was a little more then impatient. Here’s where it gets good… So this lady comes out. And asks me ever-so-sternly…”Are you the parent that cut in line?” So I answered yes and she proceeded to rip into me about how it isn’t fair. So what did sweet little Kristy do? Kristy lost it and told her how ridiculous I thought it was that I couldn’t pick up my own child from the office when I had an infant and a sleeping child and instead was told to get back in line. Then I proceeded to tell her that I didn’t have time for this garbage and that I had to be to work and drop the kids off at the sitter’s house and that she was making me even later then before. Needless to say I was a little steamed and she told me to “drive safely.” Like I’m one of those erratic mothers who is going to drive me and my kids off a cliff or something (I admit, I did probably look that way though.) ….

Ok, so back to the present. So I’m sitting there and this Lady that I so vividly remember is talking into the mic and I lean over to the other parent sitting next to me. I ask her quietly, “Who is that lady speaking right now?” And she answers me… “That’s the Principal.” UGGGGHHHH…. seriously?! I fussed out the principal of my 5 year olds elementary school? Granted, she kind of deserved it and so did the rest of the office staff (if you want my opinion) but not exactly the way I want my kid to be known at school… the one with the crazy mom who cuts in the carpool lane. To make the story that much sweeter, the next day they had huge orange barrels (not cones, barrels) and a chain where I had taken my “short cut” so that the next person wouldn’t be tempted. MOTHER OF THE YEAR, RIGHT HERE FOLKS.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY

This Valentine’s Day/Weekend was CARRAAAZZZYY!! Not only did we celebrate it I also worked like a mad woman at Sullivan’s. The girl’s were so excited to send out their valentine’s to their friends and we attached little Dum Dum’s to each card. Mia had her own little Joy School party to attend which was fantastic. The kids got to decorate their own bags for their goodies, and then decorate and eat some awesome cupcakes. Being one of the few boys, Landen really enjoyed himself and gave a little v-day hug to Miss Olivia. Kalea had her own little party at school that she attended and came home with her own goodies. However, after closer inspection we noticed that many of the kids had given her “Kanye’s” cards instead of Kalea’s. Close enough for Kindergarteners, right??

Christian and I had a great Valentine’s Day ourselves, we celebrated on Friday and Sunday… cause my husband is extra awesome. On Friday we went and saw New Moon…FINALLY! And then I had to work on Saturday and Sunday evenings which kicked my butt! Sunday Christian woke me up at noon with steak and a baked potato before my next shift started. Considering I had gone to bed at 3am and had to work at 3pm the next day, it was an EXHAUSTING weekend. I’m not going to brag about how much I made… let’s just say it was A LOT! Christian also surprised me with 2 scented candles and lingerie (which I think was for him, not me.) My gift to him? Not spending any money… that’s true love right there.

Okay… so after purchasing 2 dud camera’s that we were less then thrilled with, Christian hit the Jack Pot and bought a Canon Rebel XSi… which I LOVE. I have no clue how to use it besides to point and shoot, but the pictures turn out lovely nonetheless. So as soon as I got the camera from the mailman I started snapping at.. who else… my kiddos.

*YES… that is a Jimi Hendrix t-shirt my kid is wearing*

SNOW DAYS!!

Yea, you heard me… 20 degree weather, lots of white stuff, and happy kids.  When I was a kid I really really didn’t like snow.  I guess I’ve learned to appreciate it as I’ve gotten older and I get to watch the excitement through my kid’s eyes.  It’s also a lot easier to appreciate something you see MAYBE once a year.  Here are a few fun pictures of our family partaking in this years whitesome delightsome…

(Notice how there are 2 things going on in these pictures.  Christian crashes and burns… but all Mia is worried about is her hat falling off. )

Landen LOVED sledding down our hill.

Landen liked the snow except when he fell down he’d hold out his hands for me to wipe them off.

Mia sleeping in the closet… I think she had gotten in trouble and was in time out. I went looking for her and freaked out a little bit cause she wasn’t in her room.  Then I opened the closet door and found her here.

This is when chubby baby Landen used to suck his thumb. He’s so stinkin adorable!!

Mia fell asleep in her car seat after church. This is where and how she ended up afterwards.

Landen fell asleep on Aunt Cherre’s lap on the boat.  He looks like a little turtle in his shell.

And Lastly… HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE… This is how we found Kalea and Mia one night after putting them to bed. Mia had climbed up onto Kalea’s bed and apparently they had played until they dropped… literally… where they were.

Thank you for every moment… and for all of the moment’s to come. I love you. K

ZOOOOOMMM!!!

That’s pretty much what December did… it zoomed on by. I think I was there for most of it, but I honestly am not sure.  Lots of things happened…. I started back at a new/old job, Christian and Kalea had 2 weeks off, and I’m pretty sure Santa came one of those nights too.

I was able to take Kalea and Mia to Disney on Ice early in December. They went with their cousins, Mackenzie and Caroline, and my sis-in-law Cherre.  We had a great time!  We started our evening eating homemade pizza that Cherre made for everyone, and then drove over to the RBC Center and evening of Disney goodness.

Christmas09 110

Christmas was busy busy busy as usual. I had to work Christmas Eve but ended up getting home at 9:30 so we could open one present before the arrival of Santa.  The girls were so excited and went to sleep promptly afterwards.  The next morning Santa definitely delivered and the girls were read to tear into all of the color wrapping under the tree.  Landen spent his time carrying around 2 suckers from See’s Candy. He knew what the good stuff was.

We also spent time at Grandma and Grandpa Alo’s house and Grandmother and Grandpa Simpson’s home.  I think we were all pretty exhausted by the end of the evening.

Lane was able to come home from Hawaii and it was his first Christmas back since his mission. The kids really loved having their Uncle Lane around to joke around with and attack. Lane and I took the girl’s to go see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs which they LOVED. I think Lane and I loved it just as much. Mia and Kalea said they wanted to go to another movie right after. Which we DID…. not.  Anyways, life has been undoubtedly busy and at times exhausting with trying to balance the kids, the holiday’s, work schedules, etc.  Oh… and PS… I am currently re-employed at Sullivan’s Steakhouse in downtown Raleigh again. So let the tips roll in, and the exhaustion begin.
