FALSE ALARM

31 WEEKS

We had quite an adventurous week (and weekend). I went in for a routine check up for this pregnancy on Thursday. The only thing that was different was they scheduled an ultrasound to make sure I didn't have Placenta Previa (which I don't). But apparently while they were looking around they saw that my cervix was really short. They ended up measuring 3 different times and all of them were completely different from the last (2.7, 1.5, .27). I don't really know what any of that means, but my OB decided that he wanted me to go next door to Labor and Delivery at Rex Hospital. Not exactly what I was expecting (and if you ask me.... a little dramatic). I know Dr. Inge probably thought I wasn't taking this seriously enough, but I felt fine and I try not to react until I know for sure something is going on.

Anyways, I got there and called my Mom and told her what was going on. She was only supposed to watch the kids for about 2 hours but it looked like the afternoon wasn't exactly predictable anymore. So I check in... they make me get in a robe and everything and started monitoring the baby. They gave me a steroid shot for his lungs just in case he did come early and basically I just sat around for about 5 hours. The on call doctor (Dr. Maddison) came in and said she'd like to keep me overnight initially.... but after much talking and convincing.... she said it'd be fine if I went home as long as I wasn't doing anything strenuous. My mom showed up round 5:30 pm to spend sometime with me. And after the steroid shot, they let me go. It was after 8pm at this time. UGH! Mommy of course took me out to eat since it had been FOREVER and then I went home. But I had to come back to the hospital Friday evening for another round of the steroid shot, more monitoring, and a fetal fibronectin test.

I went back Friday with Christian by my side. Went through the whole ordeal once again and everything turned out fine. No more worries... no bed rest (which I'm VERY happy about). I'll probably take it pretty easy the next 2 months just to be on the safe side though. It was such a strange ordeal. I didn't feel like it wasn't as big a deal as everybody was making it out to be. I swear I was going to go crazy when Christian took the day off on Friday to stay home with me and wouldn't let me do ANYTHING. But I know he does it because he loves me. I do have to say that I could have done without all the craziness and it doesn't exactly make me look forward to my next check ups.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW

Photobucket
We have decided on a name for this little guy. His name is going to be
Landen Makoa Simpson.
Landen - because we liked it and it was the only name we agreed on.
Makoa - means "fearless" in Hawaiian. very masculine.
Simpson - cause that's our last name.

SUMMER VACATION

Last week we went to Surfside Beach, SC with Christian's family for the week. Yes... an entire week! It was really fun and very exhausting. I feel like I'm still recooperating. Christian wasn't able to join us until Friday afternoon. I missed him TONS! I knew he was such a big help to me with the girls, but I didn't realize how much until he was gone. Lucky for me I had lots of other hands to chip in... if only Mia would have let them. The girls had an awesome time with their cousins. They played with William and Hannah the whole time and really loved being around the babies (Helena and Spencer). Between the beach and the pool we had our pick each day of where we wanted to go. Kalea got SUPER tan which I was some what suprised me since we put on SPF 50 every day. Here are a couple of pictures and some videos of our trip. The videos are only of Mia since Kalea was kind of pooped by day 6. You'll also notice I'm not in any of the pictures.... since I'm 31 weeks pregnant... I'm not feeling quite up to posing.

MIA'S POCKET

So this deserved it's own post. Mia likes to wear her panties over her diaper. I haven't been in the mood to start potty training so this will have to do for now. Lately, Mia has decided that her panties double as a "pocket". She likes to cram her phone and sunglasses down there along with Snow White.

VISIT FROM MY GRANDPARENTS

My Grandparents (on my mom's side) came into visit from Washington State all last week. We had an Awesome time with them in town. Like always, Mia was a little skeptical and had a harder time warming up but in the end, she really enjoyed being with her Great Grandparents. My Grandpa loved playing with the girls and it's so great for me to watch them together.

Princess dresses my Grandma made

While my Grandma was here we had a couple of projects that I thought would be fun to work on together. Ok... to be honest, my mom and my grandma did all the work. I wasn't much help at all. I picked out the fabric and did some ironing but that was about it. They're so much more talented then me in that area. Sorry guys for being so useless! Here are some pictures of their accomplishments! The cape looking items are Hooter Hiders... which my mom hates saying so it was even more funny for me to watch her force out of her mouth. And the second is a baby sling. It has a really soft fabric on the inside and a crazy japanese print on the outside. I really love them all. Thanks Again Mom and Grandma!!

HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR

Okay... so maybe it wasn't the hottest day of the year... but it sure felt like it. It was over 100 degrees on a Saturday and we had NOTHING to do (and by nothing I mean things that felt like chores weren't an option). So Christian and Andrew decided to make a slip n slide. They bought a HUGE plastic tarp and along with sprinklers, hoses, and pushing together our 2 sand boxes to trap the water and create a pool... our water fun was BORN! We all had a really fun time with the slide. Christian and Andrew took it for a "test drive" and ended up with some battle wounds from some undetected pine cones underneath the plastic. But that didn't stop them. Christian insisted that I tried it out... so I sat and he pushed me. Mia even sat with me and took a couple of turns... however, she hated it. Christian made her go by herself one time and I wish I had gotten a video of her trying to stop herself. She was not a fan of him after that. I have to admit that this was probably one of my favorite "projects" that Christian has put together. Despite the fact that it did kill our grass/weeds in the yard. Oh well, the weeds will grow back, no doubt about it.
