RANDOM THOUGHTS...
I've decided that I definitely prefer Baking over Cooking. Cooking feels more like an obligation while Baking is more of a creative expression with food. Plus anything baked is just way Yummier. Maybe it's just my screwed up way of thinking but I'd much rather bake cookies, muffins, any kind of sweet bread then make dinner. But of course you can't feed your family on junk food. So I better start loving cooking because it is much more of a necessity.
I've also realized that my pants are getting tight. So maybe baking isn't the way to go. Granted I'm pregnant, but that's no excuse! :) Today was my first day of trying to squeeeeze into pants that were about to BUST! What a milestone!... One I'd like to skip. How nice would it be if your waist, butt, and hips were to stay the same while the belly just grew. No such luck. So what did I do? I kept that button quietly unbuttoned and let everyone think that my skinny behind can still fit in them. Last week I went to the Doctor's for my monthly check up and a nurse weighed me in at a whopping 100lbs. I was waiting for her to say, "Lay off the baking." Instead she looked at me a little disgusted and had nothing to say to me for the rest of our 10 minutes together. If she knew that weighing triple digits is a challenge for me. Maybe next time I'll give her a heart to heart explanation. I'm sure she'll really care.
I've also been cleaning like CRAZY. I don't know if it's because Spring is coming and I'm SUPER excited or if I'm nesting already. But I'm ready for things to be Spotless! Kalea likes to be a my little helper but I've noticed Mia gets very mad when I try to clean up her toys. It's like she's got them EXACTLY WHERE SHE WANTS THEM. Too bad they're NOT where I want them. Her new favorite phrase to me is, "Shhh! Quiet!" For some reason she reserves that phrase only for me. And needless to say, Christian does NOT like that. She gets in trouble every time and yet she constantly decides to tell me when she thinks I'm talking too much. Ahhh... the joys of a 2 year old. I'm sure it'll only get better in her teenager years. On the plus side, she did go to Nursery on Sunday without much fuss. Once she realized I wasn't going to hold her she went and played. The only downside was that apparently some kid gagged and threw up and chaos of course erupted throughout the kids and she had to come back to us. But at least she knows she's losing the fight against nursery and has given in to going. Hopefully next week will last longer then 25 minutes.
I've also realized how much I LOVE my husband. I'm a very lucky girl to have him. And I'm sure this is going to embarrass him. I love being around him. We have so much fun when we're together. Life is good:) He makes me happy and I hope I do the same for him. Even though life can be such a struggle, I wouldn't want to do it with anybody else. I feel like he truly completes me as a person. I love being his wife (not so much his cook since I have A LOT to live up to). He's such a good dad and a really wonderful companion. I feel truly lucky to have him in my life and to be able to raise our daughters together. LOVE YOU CHRISTIAN!

Sunday Funday
I forgot to mention that we went to Cletus and Alice's after church on sunday. We had a really good time with them and they made some really yummy homemade pizza for us. We played charades (side note: I'm not very good and pretending to go down a slide) and the girls of course made a mess with all of their toys. I do have to say I have a special little place in my heart for little miss Kate. Maybe it's because she looks so much like Mia but I just love the age that she's in also. She has such a sweet little spirit to her and I really enjoyed being around and holding her.
Afterwards, we went over to our friends Lisa and Andrew and saw their new house! I am so excited for them! It makes you realize how clean a new home looks and how much work I had to do this morning to clean my own house!

KALEA'S DENTAL WORK AND THEM SOME...
Can I just start by saying that I am so glad that last week is OVER! I think I stressed more and definitely ate more because of the stress. Kalea got all of her dental work done. I couldn't even sleep the night before because I was so nervous for her. It went fairly smooth. I guess about as smooth as you can expect a 3 year old to do when she hates pretty much anyone in the medical field. The Dentist tried to give her a cup of "grape juice" and have her drink it. She kept saying, "that's terrible" so he had to break out the syringe and try it that way. Of course she let it pool in her mouth before swallowing but finally managed it down. While waiting for the medicine to kick in we watched Snow White. I noticed that while Kalea was sitting up she was slowly sliding sideways and couldn't hold herself up anymore. Dr. Olson took her back to his room and that is where the waiting began. The work it self only took about 45 min to an hour. When he brought her back out to me she looked as white as a ghost. Apparently she had done really well once the laughing gas went on. But I swear I have never seen her that pale in my life. She was having a hard time after this. Obviously not feeling very well so went over to the treasure chest and picked out a toy. And this is where the barfing began. She threw up about 3-4 times in a garbage can and got all the medicine out of her stomach. After that the color came back in her face and she was feeling MUCH better. The only thing that seemed to bother her after all of that was the Novocaine. She kept telling me to "take it off". I told her I couldn't and that we would just have to wait. That was hard for her but she seemed OK as time went on. She's now fully recovered and doing really well. She has one shiny silver tooth and one extracted with a spacer in place. She doesn't seem to notice the missing tooth yet. At one point I was wiping blood from her mouth and she asked me "What's that?" and I told her "paint". I did NOT want to freak her out any more then she was already feeling. Paint was the best answer I could come up with.
I've noticed that I've been eating a lot more but not seeming to show in the belly area quite as much. Some days I look VERY pregnant and then others I look at myself for awhile and there isn't much there. It's kind of confusing. I have another doctor's appointment next week so I'm hoping everything will check out normal. The only thing that has been absolutely driving me crazy are my allergies. I am miserable from them from spring til fall and it has started! I am on prescription meds prescribed by the OB so it should help out.
PS Mia STILL won't go to nursery!! aggghhhh!!

Being Hawaiian...

So this morning I tried to explain to Kalea that she is Hawaiian. It didn't go very well. She said, "No mommy, I'm Ka-lay-ya". I said, " I know you're Kalea but you're also Hawaiian". She became very distraught by this fact and obviously did not want to accept this dual description of herself. Even after I told her she was Hawaiian like mommy, it was not something she was willing to grasp. Maybe I'll give it a little bit longer before trying to explain this fun fact to her.
One day she'll find out how COOL it is to be Hawaiian. I remember little things like my dad waking me up to a song by Don Ho called "Sweet Leilani" in the morning. I remember going to my Tutu's house out in California and learning little bits here and there. Seeing my cousins dance the hula and tahitian dance also, hearing the Ukelele for the first time, trying Poi for the first time, my Tutu can also remember where he was in Hawaii during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. These feelings of love for everything Hawaiian flows in my blood like nothing else. Sometimes it is hard to live so far from my roots. There are days that I feel more "hawaiian" the others. I would love to teach my girls the things they should know about their culture and heritage. Because I have a feeling one day our polynesian blood is just going to get thinner and thinner and will one day be lost.

DOCTOR'S VISIT WITH A LITTLE BASKETBALL ON THE SIDE

I went to the OB/Gyn for the first visit yesterday. I took the girls with me, which turned out to be a bit crazier then I wanted. I think for the next visits I'll try to get a babysitter. I was able to get my actual due date. So now when people ask me when I'm due I don't have to say, "I don't know." This baby is technically due on August 25th but I have been 2 weeks early with the girls, so I'm aiming for August 11th. Kalea swears that I have a boy in my belly. I told her it will be awhile before we'll know for sure. I haven't decided whether or not I want another girl or a boy this time around. I definitely have everything I need for another girl, but I'm sure Christian would like a little more testosterone in our house (even though he would never admit it). He says he just wants a happy and healthy baby. I thought that was a very sweet answer. My next appointment is on February 1st where I'll be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. Hopefully everything is going well in there (:
Christian and I were able to go to the NC State vs. Georgia Tech game last night. It ended up being a really close game all night long. It was fun to spend a few hours just on our own while the girls got to spend time with their Aunt Camillia. On our way there I got a little carsick because I hadn't' eaten much before we left. So I made Christian swing by Burger King for a Jr. Whopper ( only $1.) Needless to say Christian wasn't thrilled with that cause it made us 5 minutes late and there was traffic (which I'm pretty sure was my fault too), but I have to say that it was probably the BEST Whopper I've ever eaten in my LIFE!!
Here's a little side note about the basketball game:
1. I swear ALL state fans are country folk with camouflage baseball caps. Christian had to remind me that it's a Engineering/Agricultural college.
2. I told Christian that I was WAY too stuck up to be a NC State fan and that we should consider becoming Carolina fans... that didn't go well. Plus I look really good in Carolina Blue :) haha
3. Christian caught a Chick-fil-a Cow that was thrown into the crowd. Which I totally would have caught if he hadn't grabbed it right out of my hands.
4. I discovered we were on the third level of the stadium and that we probably would NEVER get on the Giant TV where they show all the fans. Bummed me out a little.
5. People who are eating chicken nuggets and french fries right next to you don't want to share.
6. I like to annoy Christian with random questions. (Example: "Do you want a kiss every time State scores?") Answer: NO
7. During the second half while State was up 5 points I mentioned, "Aren't you glad I talked you out of becoming a Carolina fan?" Once again, he was not amused.
At least I can find things to amuse myself during a basketball game and make it a little more fun for the both of us. ( Or at least one of us).
