A FEW TEARS AND LOTS OF COMFORT
My family has recently lost our sweet dog Mahanna. She was our family pet for over 13 years. We loved her dearly and I know she loved us in return. As she got older she lost her hearing, sight, and had cancer.
Lane used to call her the "Helen Keller of dogs" being blind and deaf.
When she was a puppy she slept with me the first night at home. She mostly howled cause she was sad, but we slept some too.
As she got older she became VERY sassy. We always laughed at how much Mahanna did not like Lane. She constantly thought she was dominant over him. It drove him nuts. It made me laugh.
When she would sleep at night, she would growl at you if you came near her. She wanted to be left alone.
In high school, when i would come home from work or going out with friends I would stay up late and watch tv. Mahanna knew the drill. She was NOT allowed on the furniture, but when it was late, she would come and lay on my lap on the couch. (Sorry mom and dad).
I remember coming home from work and nobody was home but my dad. Mahanna was pregnant and in labor. My dad was helping her with each puppy after she delivered. It was a softer side of my dad that I will never forget. For awhile she was so protective over those puppies that he was the only one that could go near them.
I'll always remember the way Luke would say, "MOE-HANNA".
And how anybody who met her would automatically say, "Mahanna, You Ugly." Like we had never heard that one before.
When we got Moki 3 years later Mahanna did not like him. He annoyed her to death. But they learned to become best friends.
My mom was Mahanna's favorite person mostly because she fed her.
He absolute LOVED to have her ears and belly rubbed. It always made her foot thump like crazy.
When she was a puppy and people would come over, she would get very excited and pee on the floor or pee on their shoes.
She loved to chase. She would put her butt in the air and her head to the ground like she was ready to pounce. I miss that.
I remember when Luke took her for a walk one day and she came back with something soggy in her mouth. I was outside and Luke thought it was just a wet pile of leaves in her mouth. It was a dead squirrel. Luke had to play tug-o-war to get that nasty thing away from her.
In our old house we had a ladder and slide in the back yard. Mahanna knew how to climb the ladder and slide down the slide. She's awesome.
As you can tell, I absolutely LOVED this dog. She was a member of our family and always will be. I'm so grateful to have had her in my life. She taught me how to love all animals and to see the joy that they can bring to people. She was so tough and sassy. She was a blessing to my family growing up. We all loved Mahanna. I love that she has taught my children to love animals also. When we would go over to my parents house, Kalea would always run up to her and pet her and say hello. Even though Mahannah couldn't see for most of the time Kalea knew her, she knew Kalea's smell and would always wag her tail.
I ♥ U Mahanna

THEY HAVE A VERY CLOSE RELATIONSHIP
Christian was reading scriptures and Landen was fascinated with his hair. I get distracted easily so I HAD to record it!
