November's Over Already!?

Sorry I haven't written in forever... for all you loyal blog fans! This month has been crazy! I started working for my mom and actually getting things accomplished for her. I did a "mailing" for my mom and Donna and that took up a huge chunk of my time. Many paper cuts, and sore fingers later, I was finished. It felt good to work from home. Of course I had to explain to the girls that the stamps were not stickers! I had princess stickers on hand to sway them from the American flag looking stickers.

We had a very eventful Thanksgiving. I decided to make stuffing and a chocolate pecan pie to bring to the Simpson Family Dinner. Neither of which turned out exactly like my mom makes... but practice makes perfect. I guess I'll have to keep practicing. Eventually I may even feel confident enough to do my Thanksgiving... in like 2013. Christian went and played in our wards Turkey Bowl early in the morning. Only to come home with a story of someone losing their front teeth. If that's not a "sign" that this Thanksgiving might be a rough one... then I don't know what is. After a morning of baking, bathing kids, laundry, and more cooking before we left, Mia ended up messing (yes, messing is what you think) out of her diaper an all over her car seat. So we had to take covers off and wash them. Which put us about 20 minutes late for dinner. When we finally arrived, we ate and Mia cried consistently. She also decided to throw-up on me (Luckily there was a blanket to protect my clothes) and shortly after, we left. So needless to say, Mia was quite sick and didn't want to get everyone else sick along with her and high-tailed it out of there. I will say that this is probably a Thanksgiving that we will never forget.

The next morning Christian left with a good friend of ours, Jake, and went shopping for Black Friday Sales. They decided not to sleep that whole night and left at 4am. It seemed to be worth it and I'm sure they had a gay old time. 2 Grown men shopping all day long together... interesting.

Kalea is getting excited for Christmas. She wanted to see Santa while we were at the mall. She probably asked for about an hour until we finally caved. We waited in line and she pointed at Santa and was so excited to see him. She seemed to forget her excitement as our turn approached and screeched and made me hold her the whole time. I can kind of see where she's coming from. Some random old guy wearing bright red and a white fur carpet around his neck, head and face. Not exactly normal.

So last night was Halloween and things went fairly successfully. The kids ate a great dinner and were ready to go as soon as daddy came rolling through the front door. We had already had a handful of trick-or-treaters before we left. So, we took Mia and Kalea around the cul-de-sac and they loved it. Such a new experience for Mia and Kalea seemed to remember exactly the routine from last year. Christian and Mia went on home while I took Kalea out for a little bit longer. I really enjoyed the one on one time that we had. She's getting to be such a big girl. I told her to tell me when she got tired and was ready to go home.

One of the highlights of the evening was when Kalea saw a teenage boy dressed in a pretty scary wolf mask. It had blood dripping from it and everything. It was pretty dang scary. I wasn't quite sure how she was going to react to seeing something like that in real life and not on tv. As he walked up to the same house she was at, her eyes got huge and she just stared. I just waited for her reaction, but she just said, "Mommy, it's ok. It's a nice wolf, it's not scary." I don't know if she was reassuring me or herself, but she handled it really well and I was quite impressed with how mature she was. About 7 houses later she was ready to go home and look her her goodie bag (hand made by yours truly, I might add).

As we got home I noticed Mia had a sucker in one hand and a Hershey's bar in the other. She was already seeing the benefits of Halloween. Kalea dumped her bag and had at it. So much for the big dinner I made them to try and keep them full... I guess there's always room for candy!
